AKO is awarded the "Supplier of the Year" prize by Iberdrola

The company gets the prize thanks to an International Trace Heating Project completed in Latvia.
AKO one of the leading companies in the Area of Temperature Control and Monitoring using Electrical Trace Heating Solutions in the Industrial, Construction and Refrigeration sectors, has won the Supplier of the year award as an SME in the Manufacturers, Equipment and Materials category awarded annually by Iberdrola. The aim of these awards, now in their seventh year, is to incentivise sustainable development, quality, respect for the environment and the prevention of work accidents in the management of company suppliers.
AKO won the prize thanks to an Electrical Heat-Tracing project for the Combined-Cycle Power Plant in Riga (Latvia), which began in 2007 as a turnkey project and which Iberdrola had designed for the Latvian energy utility Latvenergo.AKO (www.ako.com) was responsible for the engineering, supervision and supply of trace heating for outdoor water piping, heating the bases of the outdoor steam silencers and heating the building drainage ducts. The project was therefore already underway in 2008 and resulted in the recognition from Iberdrola of the great work carried out by the Catalonian company.
The award presentation took place recently in Pamplona in a ceremony at the Palacio Baluarte attended by José Comas, the Vice-President of AKO, and Marta Inchaurraga, head of Marketing. During the event, Javier Villalba, the manager of Iberdrola's Spanish Grid division, highlighted the excellent work carried out by AKO and the rest of the award-winners; these awards are a sign of Iberdrola's recognition of the good work carried out by our suppliers. They are a reward for everyone's commitment to quality and continuous improvement.The session was closed by the region's Councillor for Innovation, Business and Employment, José María Roig Aldasoro. As a symbol of this award, AKO received a sculpture by the prestigious artist Alfonso Amaya, representing Iberdrola's interest in encouraging its suppliers to make a leap from quality (represented by a Q) to excellence (represented by an E).


AKO wins Best CSP Engineering Performance Award

We are thrilled to announce that we have received the Best CSP Engineering Performance Award given by CSP Today at the 7th Concentrated Solar Thermal Power Conference & Expo taking place in Las Vegas.

This prize is awarded to "engineering and EPC companies who feel their role has made a remarkable difference to the engineering, design and performance of CSP plants. The judges looked for details on innovative ways to reduce costs & construction time, along with improving efficiency and O&M strategy, through: The engineering process offered; The R&D, innovation and cost reduction efforts that have been made by the company; The positive impact of engineering on a project".

As we look ahead to the future, it is time to acknowledge all the people, organizations and companies that have helped us achieve this kind of recognition. After 30 years and more than 500 projects, this award is truly a turning point for us. We are both humbled and honored mainly because we've had the privilege of being nominated along renowned companies with a vast experience in the sector. But this is far from the end, for AKO, this is just the beginning! This prize just confirms that we are on the right path: committing ourselves, one project at a time, to the viability of CSP technology as the energy of the future.
