When milk and other dairy products are processed there are a variety of operations and treatments where cooling is applied. As soon as milking is completed, cooling is necessary to ensure the milk's quality, with 4 °C being the ideal temperature. When the milk arrives at the Dairy Centre, it is put into storage in order to reduce its temperature to 4 °C, since during transport some losses of temperature and some heating will have occurred. After the milk is put into containers, it is stored in refrigerated chambers at 8 °C. Then from there it enters the food product distribution chain.
