The AKO universal fluorinated gas sensors detect new types of gases in accordance with the European Standard EN 378

AKO is a leading Spanish company for regulation and temperature control in industrial and commercial refrigeration devices and is continuing to provide its customers with solutions that enable them to adapt their facilities to the legislation in force. The company would like to inform the market that the universal fluorinated gas sensors it manufactures and sells on the European market comply with the European Standard EN 378 which applies in all European Union member states.

The safety regulation places special emphasis on containment, as a key part of legislation; stating that devices using fluorinated refrigerants must be equipped with a gas leak detection system for each refrigerant gas system with a load that is equal to or greater than 300 kg. In addition, it must be installed in those cold room stores and refrigerated premises for processes that, in the event of leakage, may exceed the admissible refrigerant concentration limit.

AKO provides the refrigeration market with a wide range of detectors with universal gas sensors on the various gas detection models that it sells. It is worth noting the improvements made by its R&D&I department, optimising the configuration and functionality of the alarm relays.

Their main objective is to detect the presence of gas inside cold storage rooms and machine rooms, with more sensitive detection levels for applications in logistics centres, showrooms, food distributors, preparation rooms and compressor rooms.

Complying with the European regulations contained in the European Standard EN 378, the AKO gas detection families have digital sensors with a three-year calibration guarantee, meaning its annual calibration is not performed, with significant savings in terms of the high costs involved in complicated annual calibrations. After this time, only the sensor should be replaced with a new one and, once again, there will be a calibration guarantee in accordance with current regulations for a further three-year period.
